Jahaira Ortiz Olowe recently donated thousands of school supplies she collected through an exercise challenge to teachers in Clifton, Englewood, Paterson and the Bronx.

Back in October, Olowe, a Zumba Fitness instructor in Hackensack, launched "Exercise to Educate," a social media campaign in which her friends challenged her to different fitness exercises.

If she completed them, the challenger would have to donate school supplies.

Olowe figured she'd gather enough for one teacher. Fast-forward 60 days: she had collected thousands of school supplies for six teachers.

Each teacher below received a similar package:

  • Aurora Dominguez from P.S. 103 in the Bronx
  • Brandi Lewis from McCloud Elementary School in Englewood
  • Catia Onofre Guerra from Clifton P.S. 13 in Clifton
  • La'Tasha Jackson from LaVida Childcare Center in Paterson
  • Connie Lozada from International High School in Paterson
  • Andreia Onofre from Clifton P.S. 13 in Clifton

Olowe collected 135 notebooks, 61 coloring books, 3,020 sheets of construction paper, 281 folders and dozens of tissues, Lysol wipes, pens, pencils, Sharpies, erasers and more.
