Teaneck Firefighters Knock Down Early Morning Auto Repair Shop Blaze

A two-alarm fire broke out at a Hackensack auto repair shop early Monday morning.

Firefighters responded to the call at European Exchange at 4:40 a.m and saw heavy fire on the roof and in the mezzanine on the second floor when they arrived to the Lodi business at 4:40 a.m., City Fire Capt. Justin Derevyanik said.

The fire was under control just after 6 a.m., Derevyanik said.

An investigation found the cause to be electrical on the first floor in an outlet behind a refrigerator, the captain said. No injuries reported.

Responding agencies included Hackensack, South Hackensack, Englewood, Bergenfield and Teaneck, with Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance Squad on standby.
