“I congratulate both the Township [of Teaneck] and Borough for their efforts to provide the best law enforcement services for the residents of Teaneck and Bogota and for providing same at the best available costs,” Molinelli (left) said.
Authorities at the local and county level have been assembling the pieces for some time.
“In this economy and with the tax burden increasing on our property owners, its important that we explore all options and leave no stone un-turned to look for tax savings and efficiencies in government,” Teaneck Councilman Elie Y. Katz told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The council already has hired the township’s retired police chief, Robert Wilson, to a six-month township job in anticipation of appointing on Jan. 1 as Teaneck’s new police director, a civlian post.
He is expected to oversee what many believe will be a merged police department, the first of its kind in Bergen County — and a possible model for others not only in North Jersey but statewide.
