The body of 23-year-old Shaday (Sade) Betancourt was found by a family member at her East Forest Avenue home just before 12:30 this afternoon, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

She was pronounced dead at Englewood Hospital soon after, he said.

As of 6:30 p.m., investigators had found Pedro Gutierrez, 24, of New Milford and were questioning him, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the murder told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “They have him in pocket,” the source confirmed.

They charged him shortly thereafter, Molinelli confirmed.

Authorities aren’t sure whether Betancourt was stabbed with a knife or other sharp instrument. The Bergen County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.
