NFL Honored New York Giants Star From Teaneck Before Super Bowl LI

TEANECK, N.J. — Former New York Giants star and Teaneck native Roosevelt "Rosey" Brown was honored before Sunday night's Super Bowl LI.

Brown and 28 other Pro Football Hall of Famers from historically black colleges were introduced for their achievements.

Brown was an offensive tackle for the New York Giants from 1953 to 1965, having previously played college football for Morgan State University.

The athlete played a key role for the Giants' 1956 championship team, blocking for the its backs Frank Gifford (819 rushing yards), Alex Webster (694 rushing yards), and Mel Triplett (515 rushing yards).

He earned the NFL's Lineman of the Year award and was selected as a first-team All-NFL player by several publications.

Other athletes honored include Jerry Rice, Michael Strahan, the late Walter Payton and more.
