TEANECK, N.J. — Members of the Interact Club at Teaneck High School recently prepared and served lunch to 75 clients at the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center in Hackensack.
Interact is service-oriented and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Teaneck.
"The students really enjoy this service project," said the club's faculty advisor, Yvonne Witter.
"They learn that doing something small can really make a big difference and by doing one kind act can change someone’s day."
Julia Orlando, Director of the Center thanked the club for its “compassion, generosity and ongoing commitment to providing meaningful community service supports for the center and its clients in an effort toward rebuilding lives and regaining hope”.
Meetings are held twice monthly and students earn hours towards their community service graduation requirement by participating in projects and activities.
Recent projects include restocking shelves at the Teaneck Food Pantry, packing meals for the Haiti Relief project, serving breakfast at Applebee’s Flapjack Fundraisers, donating “Everything but the Turkey” Thanksgiving dinner bags and attending the Annual Rotary Day at the United Nations.
