Car pieces found at the scene matched a 1998 Volvo S70 sedan driven by Daniel Dawkins when it hit 32-year-old Brian Gilligan as he tried to stop traffic for a backing truck on Woodbine Street around 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.

Authorities last week released this screen capture from area video surveillance footage

Detectives charged Dawkins with leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury.

“It is expected that further charges, including motor vehicle violations, will be filed” against Dawkins, who has is scheduled for a first appearance a week from tomorrow in Bergenfield Municipal Court, Molinelli said.
