“Babe Ruth was just a fat old man with little girl legs… You know you could put that fancy mustard on a shoe and it would taste good? Lainee needs cool feet!” Huffington Post collected a baker’s dozen “Funniest Steinbrenner Moments” from “Seinfeld,” including the episode in which the Yankees late principal owner played himself, and got the Larry David treatment from Elaine.
David’s Steinbrenner impersonations were hilarious caricatures — so much so that the Boss himself said he loved them.
And every time his character ran up against Frank Costanza, he had to answer for one move or other, especially the Jay Buhner trade.
Thanks, Huff Post (for the series, click HERE ). Amid the accolades and tributes, it’s nice to remember that one of Steinbrenner’s greatest assets was his ability to be one of the guys.
Not many suits in this world who you can say that about.
