A month-long investigation led to the arrests of city residents

Daniel A. Hernandez, 38, and Alexis E. Hernandez, 32, at 86 Murray Street, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.

Detectives were watching Thursday night, he said, when both men left their apartment over a storefront and got into a black Honda Accord.

Both went to the area of Grand and New streets, parked near the International High School, and sat there with the lights off, Berdnik said.

Moments later, someone approached the car and sold the pair the drugs, he said.

The dealer fled as officers stopped the car, finding five zip-locking bags and two knotted plastic bags of raw cocaine, Berdnik said, adding that both men were taken into custody.

An approved search of the Murray Street apartment turned up $22,000 worth of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and $230 in suspected drug proceeds, he said.

Both men were charged with drug offenses and released pending court appearances.
