YOU READ IT HERE FIRST (UPDATE): Two men were arrested in separate child sex abuse cases out of Garfield this week.
Bremel Myrick Sevillanos, 29 ( above, left ), was charged with having “inappropriate sexual activity on several occasions” with a 7-year-old girl in September 2013, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said late this morning.
The girl “only recently disclosed to his parents the exact details of the incidents,” and they contacted Garfield police, he said.
They, in turn, notified his Special Victims Unit, Molinelli said.
During an interview with a unit detective, the girl “provided specific details regarding what had occurred,” he said.
Sevillanos, a Peruvian national who works as a shipping clerk, was being held on $400,000 bail, charged with aggravated sexual assault, sex assault and child endangerment, records show.
Yesterday, detectives from both agencies arrested Shabir Mohiuddin ( above, right ), a 43-year-old Indian native from Teaneck, on charges of sexual assault and child endangerment, Molinelli said.
Mohiuddin is accused of “engaging in inappropriate sexual activity” with a 9-year-old girl, he said.
The girl, now 13, “recently disclosed to her grandmother and a counselor what had occurred,” the prosecutor said this afternoon.
The counselor contacted the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) who then notified SVU detectives and Garfield police.
After interviewing the girl, they took Mohiuddin into custody.
He was being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
