The accused shooter, Tasheemah N. Tyson, 37, of Newark was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among other related counts, stemming from Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. incident on Palisade Avenue between Belmont Avenue and Botany Street, Police Chief Raymond Kovach said Thursday.

A Newark man, 26-year-old Michael Clark, was charged with drug dealing, he said.

Both Clark and Tyson were ordered held in the Bergen County Jail pending detention hearings.

Garfield residents Alisa Kolotovkina, 40, and Melvyn McCarroll, 58, were charged with drug conspiracy counts and with child neglect and endangerment, the chief said.

Both were released pending hearings, he said.

No one had yet been charged in the stabbing.

The women -- one with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and the other a stab wound to the torso – were released from the hospital after being treated, Kovach said.

A handgun and drugs were recovered, he said.
