GARFIELD, N.J. -- Garfield police charged two couples – one from town and the other from Newark -- in connection with a drug-related incident that left one woman shot and another stabbed.

The accused shooter, Tasheemah N. Tyson, 37, of Newark was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, among other related counts, stemming from Tuesday’s 5:30 p.m. incident on Palisade Avenue between Belmont Avenue and Botany Street, Police Chief Raymond Kovach said Thursday.

A Newark man, 26-year-old Michael Clark, was charged with drug dealing, he said.

Both Clark and Tyson were ordered held in the Bergen County Jail pending detention hearings.

Garfield residents Alisa Kolotovkina, 40, and Melvyn McCarroll, 58, were charged with drug conspiracy counts and with child neglect and endangerment, the chief said.

Both were released pending hearings, he said.

No one had yet been charged in the stabbing.

The women -- one with a gunshot wound to the shoulder and the other a stab wound to the torso – were released from the hospital after being treated, Kovach said.

A handgun and drugs were recovered, he said.

GARFIELD, N.J. -- A woman who shot another in Garfield early Tuesday evening was then stabbed by the victim's male partner, sources with knowledge of the incident told Daily Voice.

Both the alleged shooter -- a 36-year-old Essex County woman with a criminal record -- and the other woman were expected to survive their injuries.

Meanwhile, detectives were questioning the man.

The incident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on Palisade Avenue between Botany Street and Belmont Avenue, Garfield Police Capt. Darren Sucorowski said.

"One female sustained a gunshot wound and the other female sustained a stab wound," he said.

Garfield police were investigating with assistance from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, which collected evidence, the captain said.
