Larry Dungey made bail on Saturday after being arrested late Thursday in connection with a fight that broke out after his unleashed dogs jumped a neighbor who was sitting outside.
Dungey was arrested again early this morning and returned to the Bergen County Jail, this time after he got into a fight with his roommate over the dogs defecating in their apartment, Detective Capt. Tim Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
“I really can’t remember someone getting arrested twice, within days of each other, under nearly the exact same circumstances,” Torell said. “This is one for the books.”
Dungey, 53, was arrested after his distraught roommate told police the two “had gotten into an argument over dog excrement in the house” and Dungey “menaced him with a knife” before fleeing, the captain said.
The roommate called police when Dungey returned around 1 o’clock this morning. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault and weapons counts, Torell said.
Dungey was walking the dogs on Shepard Avenue near the Teaneck border last week when they jumped on his 22-year-old neighbor as he sat on the porch.

Both men argued, and Dungey pulled out a six-inch knife and lunged at the man, Torell said at the time.
The victim “was stabbed in his hand, but wrested the knife from him,” he said.
A second fight broke out after a friend of the neighbor’s arrived, however. Two Teaneck detectives who were in the area grabbed the combatants and seized the knife until Englewood officers arrived.
Dungey, who was charged with aggravated assault and various weapons counts, made the $55,000 bail on Saturday. His bail was increased by $26,500 based on the latest charges, records show.
