A witness called police around 11 a.m. yesterday after seeing 25-year-old Jason C. Eaves of Englewood open a storm window at a South Forest Avenue home, Acting Teaneck Police Chief Robert A. Carney said.

The would-be burglar couldn’t get past the interior window and fled in a dark-colored Chevy Yukon that was stopped nearby by Sgt. William Croonquist, the chief said.

A witness identified Eaves as the burglar and Richard K. Allen of Teaneck the driver, Carney said.

Officers found Allen carrying a small packet of heroin that he swallowed at headquarters, he said.

Allen and Eaves were charged with burglary and Allen with evidence tampering. Eaves was being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. Allen posted $2,500 bail and was released.
