TEANECK, N.J. – Claire M. (Puff) DeMaio, of Teaneck, died Sunday, Jan. 17. She was 81.
She was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Jersey City. She attended Dickinson High School. One of her greatest joys was preparing meals and serving them on a well-dressed table to her family and friends. She was an employee of Burnham & Co. in Englewood Cliffs for 35 years and worked full time to the age of 75.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie DeMaio Hylton; son Bart and his wife, Patty DeMaio; grandchildren Ashley DeMaio; Christen and her husband, Joey Barbagallo; and Andrew Hylton and his wife, Marilou Ferland; two great-grandchildren Wes and Betsy; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Bart, who died in 2008; sister Helen (Puff) Trancucci; and brothers Lawrence and Herman Puff.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Madonna Chapel on the Hill, Fort Lee. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery.
