Teaneck To Challenge Holy Name Medical Center's Property Tax Exempt Status

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Teaneck Township Council authorized a measure to file suit against Holy Name Medical Center and its exemption from local property taxes, according to NorthJersey.com.

Holy Name Medical Center is teaming up with Hackensack University Medical Center and Project SEARCH to train developmentally disabled individuals for jobs.

The measure comes after a recent state tax court decision that now has 17 non-profit hospitals in the state facing legal action, NorthJersey.com reported.

Under the current tax code, Holy Name would be on the hook for roughly $2 million in property taxes for its 20-acre plot, NorthJersey.com said.
