Dennis C. O’Donnell of New York City, who completed more than 20 marathons around the world, filed a $2 million suit in Manhattan Supreme Court Tuesday, the article says.
The suit cites the Port Authority's own Bicycle Master Plan, which reported 39 cyclist-related accidents on the bridge between 2010 and 2016, The Post says, quoting the lawsuit:
"Port Authority had knowledge of safety issues on the Shared Pathway for years, but had refused to take action," the attorney said in the suit.
"The amount of traffic on the weekends is pretty intense. People who use it do so at their own peril."
Nearly a year ago this month, O'Donnell was running back to Manhattan when a group of bicyclists headed toward New Jersey passed him on the walkway -- 10 feet wide, the report says.
Although O'Donnell says he frantically waved to the club bikers in both lanes, they apparently ignored his signals, sideswiping him and knocking him to the ground, The Post says.
The attorney fears someone else could suffer more threatening injuries in the future, according to the story.
