Funeral Mass Set For Saturday For Teaneck Mayor Lizette Parker

TEANECK, N.J. — A funeral Mass has been scheduled for Saturday morning at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Hackensack for Teaneck Mayor Lizette P. Parker who died suddenly on Sunday.

Parker, 44, who previously had cancer, was elected mayor in July 2014 -- the first female African-American mayor in Bergen County history.

A social worker for more than two dozen years, Lizette Phillips Parker leaves a husband, Anthony, a records technician with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office; a 3-year-old daughter, Alyssa; and a younger brother, Timothy Arline.

Visiting hours were scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 260 Central Ave., in Hackensack.

A funeral service was scheduled at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday, with interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
