TEANECK, N.J. — Quick and convenient. Easy and intuitive. Now a group of Teaneck High School graduates can add "award-winning" to its smartphone application's resume.
The team of eight friends won the People's Choice Award for TOMO! at the New Jersey Tech Council Venture Conference in Iselin on April 7.
Pioneered by co-founders Alfonzo Smith and Matthew Gonzalez, the team rolled out TOMO! — which consolidates social media platforms — last November.
The app was among 48 Tech Startups invited to the conference. The Teaneck graduates pitched the app to more than 500 entrepreneurs, investors and venture capitalists at the conference.
“We’re very determined to be a leading factor in social convenience,” Smith said. “Or at least to be known as a pioneer of it.”
