Paramus Musician, 12, Rocks Out For Dog Rescue Charity

PARAMUS, N.J. -- He's only 12 but so far Jake Thistle, a musician from Paramus, has jammed with John Hiatt, performed at Radio City Music Hall and just got back from his first gig in England.

He even got a personal thumbs up from Tom Petty on Christmas Eve 2016. It seems Petty had found some of Thistle's music online and liked it so much, he sent the teenager front row tickets to his 40th-anniversary concert in June, along with some signed CDs and a nice letter.  (Go HERE for previous Daily Voice story.)

And now Bergen County residents can see this up and coming self-taught guitarist on Sunday, March 19 at Jigg's Corner in Butler. It's Thistle's 13th birthday and instead of gifts, he's asking friends and family (and everyone else) to donate to Rock the Dogs, a dog rescue founded by Mike Campbell, guitar player of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The program is run through Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund with his wife Marcie.

Last year, Thistle did a similar event which raised $4,000. Go HERE for more information. Donations are tax-deductable; donate HERE

Thistle, it should be noted, also sings, plays harmonica, some bass, keyboards and mandolin. You can also find more information at Jake Thistle Music Facebook.page.
