TEANECK, N.J. -- Jamie Sussel Turner admits she wasn’t always the best leader or the best communicator. The Fairleigh Dickinson University graduate, who now lives in Sea Bright, wanted to be better at both so she hired a coach to help kick-start her growth.
That was 10 years ago and thanks to those sessions, as well as a change in professions -- she was in education for 37-year years -- she became a business and personal coach and writer.
"Less Stress Business: A Guide for Hiring, Coaching, and Leading Great Employees," released in 2014, is all about helping leaders learn to stop blaming their employees and get to the heart of issues that fuel their stress so they can have more success. Some of the issues addressed in her book include opening the door to feedback, learning how to delegate better and confronting dysfunction so teams can function.
"When I look back at my years being a school principal, I can now see that my favorite days were when I helped someone have an 'aha' moment which resulted in real change," she said. "Now, as a coach, I get to experience the feeling of helping others to grow all the time."
