TEANECK, N.J. – As a mother of three from Teaneck battles breast cancer, her community is rallying around her with support and prayers.
Maribel Echavarria was diagnosed with “Triple Negative Breast Cancer” in December, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up by her husband, Edward.
“My wife is Very Strong but news like that would break down the strongest person,” Edward wrote on the page.
When the couple told their three daughters about the diagnosis, “it was extremely heart-breaking, but I knew as long as we stuck together we can overcome anything,” Edward wrote.
Maribel recently had a mastectomy, and she will need chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery, he wrote.
“She will be out of work for several months and we are asking for all those who may know my lovely wife Maribel, help us out in this time of need. Any donation no matter how small, is humbly appreciated,” he wrote.
The campaign had garnered more than $3,000 in donations by Friday afternoon.
“Your support is the fuel that keeps the fire burning for Maribel's fight," Edward wrote.
