TEANECK, N.J. — Ethical Brew in Teaneck is offering a concert for a good cause on Sat. Jan. 9 where musicians will perform to benefit Young Women’s Leadership Network.
Beth Stein and her husband, Perry, both of Northvale, run the program, pay the performers, and all of the profits above that are split between the society and an organization or cause that is important to the talents that take the stage.
Hannah & Maggie, and Rob Lytle are expected to perform before a crowd of up to 100 at the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show and tickets are general admission at $20 each online or $25 at the door.
The Steins had been members of the society for over 15 years, and as empty nesters, they explored house concerts and music.
They became more involved, made friends with a performer, and let Ethical Brew take off from there.
“We go to a lot of shows and attend music conferences - there are people that are great, and people haven’t yet heard of them,” Beth Stein said. “Many are folk-indie performers.”
Past beneficiaries of the shows include WhyHunger, Edeyo Foundation (Haiti), Heifer International, Bergen County Sanctuary Committee, Ramapo-Bergen Animal Sanctuary and Doctors Without Borders.
“It raises awareness for a lot of causes,” Stein said.
