TEANECK, N.J. -- Catch a performance by a slide guitarist, joined by a 17-year-old folksinger, at the Ethical Brew in Teaneck on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Established award-winning musician and slide guitarist Pat Wictor of Brother Sun takes the stage with young phenom Annika, also an award-winning and known musician who recently burst onto the folk music scene.
Wictor first hit the the folk and acoustic scene as an innovative slide guitarist known for doing fresh and versions of traditional and contemporary songs. He has since become a well-regarded singer and songwriter, writing material grounded in the rural country, gospel, and blues traditions of our nation.
Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Annika Bennett has written scores of songs and performed extensively throughout the greater New York metropolitan region. In 2014, she was awarded ASCAP's Robert Allen Award for excellence in songwriting, and was winner of radio WNYC's Queens Battle of the Boroughs competition.
She was a member of Real Women Real Songs (RWRS), a group of 22 women who each wrote a prompted song-a-week for the entirety of 2014. Her song “Where I'm Dreaming Of Annika” was a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition 2014. Most recently, she won the 2015 “Your Big Break Contest” sponsored by Gold Coast Arts Center.
The Ethical Brew is based at the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County and holds a maximum of 100 guests. All tickets are general admission. Come early for the best seating.
Doors open at 7:30. Shows begin at 8 p.m. Coffee and refreshments are available for purchase at every performance.
