Black Box Studio in Teaneck is offering two 4-week summer theater intensives for students entering grades 6-12.

At Rock Musical Theater Intensive, kids spend a month working on a Broadway-style musical. At Dramatic Theater Intensive, kids spend a month working on a cutting-edge play. Both culminate in fully-staged productions for family, friends, the community, and industry professionals.

Entering its eighth season, the programs are run by BBS Artistic Director Matt Okin, Musical Directors Huey Esquire and Brody Grief, other professional teaching artists, and special entertainment industry guests.

In each total-immersion, collaborative theater experience, participants receive hands-on instruction in acting, improvisation, voice, dance, stage combat, audition technique and more.

Students explore numerous genres of theater as they create, rehearse, and mount a full-length show. Roles are chosen specifically for each participant to showcase his or her talents and give each the opportunity to grow over the course of the summer.
