Teaneck Activist Steven Goldstein Featured In Upcoming Motion Picture

TEANECK, N.J. -- Teaneck gay rights activist Steven Goldstein will be portrayed in the upcoming movie "Freheld," by Steve Carell, according to NorthJersey.com.

Goldstein, a lawyer and former television producer gained notoriety when he founded Garden State Equality in 2004. He ran the organization until 2013, NorthJersey.com reported. 

"Freeheld" centers on the story of police lieutenant, Laurel Hester, and her registered domestic partner, Stacie Andree, who battle to secure Hester's pension benefits when she is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The movie hits theaters on Friday.
