Copeland was born in Harlem, N.Y., and was recognized early on for her talents by her bluesman father. He always encouraged her to sing at home and even brought her on stage to sing at Harlem’s famed Cotton Club when she was just 8.
In 1998 she recorded her groundbreaking debut CD, “Turn The Heat Up.”
