New Movie Tackles Heavy Subject In Elmwood Park

BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. -- "Weight," a film about a 27-year-old who doesn't take his health seriously until a host of events gets him motivated, will be filming at a closed set in Elmwood Park Tuesday, May 16.

The movie is written, produced and directed by Rob Margolies (“Lifelines”, “She Wants Me”) and stars Ashley Johnson (“Blindspot”, “What Women Want”), Kathy Najimy (“Sister Act”,“Veep”), Jason Mewes ( "Clerks, "Mallrats”), Peter Scolari (“Girls",“That Thing You Do!”) and newcomer Zackery Byrd.

Margolies, who wrote the script, said he was inspired by his own journey. At one point he weighed 210 pounds. and needed to do something about it.  "I had never been overweight before, but now I understand what others go through," he said.

Based on actual events, “Weight” chronicles the life of Lead Actor Byrd who actually lost weight during the course of the movie. Ten percent of the profits of the film will go to benefit the National Diabetes and Obesity Institute.
