Judaism And Animals Talk In Teaneck Focuses on Vegetarianism

TEANECK, N.J. -- Congregation Beth Sholom will host a discussion relevant to both Jewish vegetarians and others interested in the ethical treatment of animals when the congregation welcomes Jeffrey Cohan, executive director of JewishVeg, Saturday, Jan. 23.

Cohan will speak on "Judaism and Animals: Tza'ar Baalei Chaim in our Contemporary World." Using various texts, he will lead an interactive discussion that will focus on Talmudic teachings regarding ethical treatment of animals and implications for 21st-century Jews.

This talk will take place immediately following Kiddush, at approximately 12:30 p.m.
