TEANECK, N.J. — Dumont Historian Dick Burnon will present a video and lecture, titled "Women Who Mattered: Funny Ladies of the Stage and Screen," Friday, Dec. 11 at the Teaneck Public Library.

The 10:30 a.m. program is free and open to the public.

Burnon will discuss the lives and times of stage and screen stars Fanny Brice, Molly Picon, Martha Raye, and Joy Behar.

He will show excerpts from the 1971 film, "Fiddler on the Roof," in which Molly Picon portrayed Yente the Matchmaker.

Fanny Brice (1891-1951) was a popular and influential illustrated song model, comedian, singer, theater, and film actress, who made many stage, radio, and film appearances, and is known as the creator and star of the top-rated radio comedy series, "The Baby Snooks Show."

Molly Picon (1898-1992) was an actress of stage, screen, and television, as well as a lyricist and dramatic storyteller for almost eight decades. She was a star in Yiddish theater and film, but turned to English language productions.

Martha Raye (1916-1994) was a comic, actress, and standards singer who performed in movies, and later on Broadway and television. She was honored in 1969 with an Academy Award as the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award recipient for her volunteer efforts and services to the troops.

Joy Behar (1942-) is a comedian, writer, actress, and was co-host on the ABC talk show, "The View." She hosted "The Joy Behar Show" on HLN from 2009 to 2011, and "Joy Behar: Say Anything!" on Current TV, from 2012 until the channel switched formatting in August 2013.
