TEANECK, N.J. -- The Maywood Library is hosting an Earth Day celebration on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16, in conjunction with the Teaneck Creek Conservancy.
Friday's festivities will be from 1-5 p.m., and Saturday's will be from 11:30-4 p.m. There will be a variety of presentations and activities, and local, state and national nonprofits will have tables, on a variety of eco-issues.
On Friday, TCC's Executive Director Alexa Marques will be giving a kids-themed presentation on animals, habitat and the TCC restoration, at 2:30 p.m. Other Friday events include Eco Art Craft -- where kids can build their own water bottle terrariums and create an eco-collage -- and a butterfly-friendly plants giveaway.
Saturday's events include:
- 11:30 a.m to noon -- Dr. Edith Wallace, a noted biologist, will give a talk with a slide show, about the Celery Farm
- 1:30 p.m. -- Captain Hugh Carola will give a talk and slide show on the Hackensack River
- 3 p.m. -- Adaria Armstrong, a naturalist and anthropologist, will give a talk with a slide show on New Jersey's Pinelands Forest
- 4 p.m. -- awards for eco art/poem/short story
