Massive Recall Ordered For Ram Pickup Trucks

Nearly two million Ram pickup trucks are being recalled because of a glitch that could allow them to shift out of park and roll, Fiat Chrysler announced.

Tthe company's safety compliance chief urged drivers to deploy the parking brake while waiting to have their vehicles repaired.

The recall covers 1.8 million light- and heavy-duty Rams sold dating back to 2009, with 1.48 million in the U.S. 

The recall is limited to vehicles equipped with shifters mounted on steering columns. Those with rotary-dial shifters or floor-mounted shifters are unaffected. All model-year 2017 trucks built after Dec. 31, 2016, are also excluded.

Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service. FCA US urges all customers to heed the instructions on recall notices.
